Reading Response # 1 (Podcast)

This live podcast talked about how a team of people came together in order to achieve their goal of crafting a solid idea. As you pointed out, this podcast was very similar to the writing process checklist handout you gave us because the people in the podcast followed many of the same steps that effective writers follow when crafting a piece of writing only for them it was just them talking about their idea on the podcast. For instance, because the group of people considered who their target audience was and as a group helped generate the content for their idea they did an effective job in the pre-writing phase of the writing process. It was easy to tell that they were actually really interested in the product because they took time to research their ideas and they took their time to finish. While in the revision and editing phases the group was very respectful of each other in giving out their critiques but the people receiving the constructive criticism were never offended by anything that someone said to them. In fact they were basically open to any suggestion given to them which is a good view to have whenever one is getting a critique on a draft they have written. In the end this podcast helped me see that the writing process is an important thing and that I should follow it more often. Usually I wait til the last minute to finish papers so that is not the best strategy. While it usually works out for me I am going to try to change my ways at least for this class because I know I have to show a history of my work on papers not just the one and final draft I usually do for papers. That is likely going to be a challenge for me but in the end it should make me a more competent writer. :)
