Reading Response # 2

The reading from the CSUS writing handbook was important for anybody to know but for me, and I would think many others, it really was just a refresher of things I have learned before in previous English classes. It is always good to review past things though so I guess it was not a total waste. The handbook did a good job of detailing the three types of writing that students will do in college. The three types are closed, open, and semi-open. It then talked about how students can write in each format although it really depends on what the assignment is because if the professor gives a prompt students basically have to follow it is so that would be an example of closed. The handbook also talked about myths that people have about the writing process. One that many writers face is the notion that they are not good writers and or that they can not become better writers. That usually is not true so people just need to work at it by taking classes like this and after some hard work their writing skills will improve.
